The selection of Gretchen the bag lady over the spectacularly creative Mondo on Project Runway last night was an abomination!!! Mondo consistently created colorful, playful and daring outfits that are unique and intriguing. Mondo will always be a winner in our eyes - Gretchen not so much.

Artist of the Day - Writer/ Director Sofia Coppola
Of all the movies written and directed by Sofia Coppola, Lost in Translation (2003) has been my favorite so far. Bill Murray's character, Bob Harris, is priceless - he just oozes all that is wrong with living US style. Everything in his life is in a steady downward decline. He has material wealth and stature, but he is starving emotionally. The movie is set in downtown Tokyo, that lends a surrealistic feel to it. As always with Coppola, there is an inspired sound track winding through the scenes. And while Scarlett Johansson has yet to show her full acting potential, she adequately syncs with Murray throughout the film.
Coppola made her directorial debut with The Suicide Diaries (1999), and then followed Lost in Translation with Marie Antionette (2006). Next up for Coppola is Somewhere (2010), pairing Stephen Dorff and Dakota Fanning's younger sister, Elle.
