it hurts so bad
what happens when you accidentally hit "play" on Netflix's before you read about a movie? I knew from several seconds into the film that I was in for trouble ... my deepest memory of learning of the horrors of the holocaust was listening, as a teenager, to a woman who, as a child, had been lined up in front of a trench with many others and then shot. She recounted falling into the pit on top of, then covered by, many bodies. She said she had to struggle to breath, and after time felt the warm trickle of blood down her naked body. She was able to crawl out after nightfall and escape to a nearby farmhouse where she was sheltered. I do not remember if she had actually been wounded. Back to the film, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - it was exquisitely done and showed the insanity as it was unfolded before the tender heart of an 8 year old boy. I embrace the pain - NEVER AGAIN! but alas, it has happened again and will continue to happen as long as the wretched of mankind have their way.

the question
This incredibly sweet drawing by my inspiration, Elsa Mora - an etsy legend known as Elsita, really communicates my heart - why? I have asked this all my life ... even as a small child. The biggest question strangling me right now is why an omnipotent God would create such damaged goods as mankind. Yes, many people are good and do good things. But it seems more do bad things. And I particularly do not understand the pain and suffering inflicted on the children of this world. I do not understand how we can ignore the starvation, lack of health care, emotional abuse, lack of education and most of all, the destruction of hope and dreams. This is like a ball and chain that drags with me every waking minute, and often even into my dreams. why, w-h-y, Why, WHy, WHY, WWWWWWHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYY?

i love this
i am a big ed hardy fan - the colors, the intricacy, the edginess, the rocknrolleasyriderjessejames of it all. who would have thought? maybe it is part of my laterthanmidlife crisis. so, watched the squid & the whale and the changling this weekend. interesting - laura linney always outstanding. and angelina - no matter what, the woman is a believable character on screen. big rumors about brangelina - we all know it is only a matter of time. she is uncontainable - my prayers for the children. little shiloh sucking her thumb ... reminds me

This will be the year of JOY
Two years in a row, my dear husband shared in frustration that he had no joy in his life. He felt like a robot, repeating over and over - getupgotoworkgohomeeatgotobedgetup... It really saddened me so I have decided this year, 2010, will be the year of JOY for us. I will make a conscious effort to bring more JOY to our lives. How will I do that? Well, one way will be to plan more adventures. I am really good at planning trips and vacations, so I will use those skills to get Glenn out into the world more. Here is where I would like to start - Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont.
